New EFI brochure highlights capabilities of aiphoria modelling tool

The European Forest Institute has released a new brochure presenting aiphoria - an open-source modelling package for analysing wood-based systems and carbon flows, co-created by ForestPaths, MoniFun and eco2adapt.

The brochure offers a clear and accessible overview of how aiphoria works, outlining its ability to track material flows from forest to final use, assess circularity pathways such as reuse and recycling and support carbon accounting. It also introduces the tool’s key strengths, including its modular design, compatibility with Python workflows and focus on transparency and reproducibility.

Designed for both researchers and practitioners, the publication highlights how aiphoria can turn complex data into structured, decision-relevant insights. Visual elements and simplified explanations make the tool’s functionality easier to understand, supporting wider uptake across projects and collaborations.

The brochure also provides an update on ongoing development, including improvements in data handling, scenario analysis and visualisation, as well as its growing application in European research initiatives.

With this new publication, EFI aims to make aiphoria more accessible to a broader audience and to encourage its use as a shared resource within the research and modelling community.
