Shaping the future of forest research & innovation for a competitive Europe event
After two years of collaboration, consultations and research, the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) will be officially launched at a high-level event in Brussels on 15 October, 2025, from 9:00 to 15:00 CET. The event, titled “Shaping the Future of Forest Research & Innovation for a Competitive Europe”, will bring together experts, stakeholders and decision-makers to discuss the future of forest-related research and innovation in Europe.
Organised under the umbrella of EUFORE, the gathering will provide a platform for dialogue, reflection, and joint planning, with opportunities for participants to ask questions and actively contribute to shaping the SRIA’s implementation.
The agenda features dynamic sessions, including:
-
“Building the SRIA” – presented by the ForestPaths partner European Forest Institute (EFI) and the German Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR), offering an overview of the SRIA’s development and milestones.
-
“Many Voices, One Agenda – Co-creating the SRIA” – a panel moderated by EFI, where representatives from industry, research, policy, funding bodies and civil society will share perspectives on key themes.
-
“Turning the SRIA into Action: What’s Next?” – hosted by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MMM), linking the SRIA with the upcoming Forest Partnership.
-
“Forest FUSION” – an interactive networking session designed to foster new collaborations and connections, with bilateral and trilateral meetings tailored to participants’ interests.
Organisers expect broad participation from institutions across Europe, making the event a unique opportunity to network, collaborate and exchange ideas on the future of forest research and innovation.
To encourage inclusive participation, EUFORE has allocated a small fund to support the attendance of underrepresented genders, organisations and European regions. Interested applicants can contact Arthur Le Bigot (arthur.bigot@efi.int), copying Cecilia Rivera (cecilia.rivera@efi.int).
