Climate-Smart Forestry workshop supports researchers in developing practical skills
A Climate-Smart Forestry (CSF) Workshop brought together 24 participants from 12 countries and 16 institutions in Wageningen, the Netherlands, from 20 to 24 October. The event was organised by the Sustainable Forest Ecosystems team at Wageningen Environmental Research (WENR), with support from the European Forest Institute (EFI) and the ForestPaths, FORWARDS, and HoliSoils projects.
The workshop allowed participants to exchange knowledge and research results on CSF-related field experiments, forest and landscape modelling, and national CSF research activities. It also focused on developing practical skills through field visits to ongoing CSF experiments in Dutch forests and hands-on sessions introducing the EFISCEN-Space modelling tool.
By the end of the week, participants and organisers expressed interest in continuing collaboration within the CSF Network and further supporting its activities. The workshop also helped strengthen cooperation between ForestPaths and other EU-funded projects focused on climate-smart forestry.
